Vastu Doshas
Common Vastu doshas
A dosha is a spatial condition that a Vastu tradition marks as an imbalance or misalignment.

| Dosha | Traditional concern |
|---|---|
| Missing corners | Vastu analysis compares an irregular boundary with a complete reference frame and records which directional sectors have less coverage. |
| Brahmasthan obstruction | Traditional Vastu prefers the central area to stay open and marks a pillar, staircase, or heavy furniture there as an obstruction. |
| Toilet in the northeast | Many Vastu schools treat northeast as a pure zone and do not prefer a toilet there. |
| Kitchen in the north | Traditional Vastu associates north with water and treats a strong fire use there as an elemental conflict. |
| Bedroom in the north | Some Vastu schools treat north as an active zone and do not prefer it for a main bedroom. This is not a medical sleep assessment. |
| Main door blocked | Furniture at the main door can block safe access and make arrival difficult. Keep the route clear. |
| Stairs facing entrance | Some Vastu traditions do not prefer stairs directly in front of the entrance. Also check safe clearance and circulation. |
| Master bedroom in the north | Some Vastu schools do not prefer north for the main bedroom. This traditional association does not predict sleep, health, or relationship outcomes. |
| Water and fire together | A sink directly next to a stove creates conflict — these elements war with each other. Keep them at least 3 feet apart. |
| Dark spaces | Vastu practice prefers usable light and clear corners. Also assess dark areas for practical lighting and safety needs. |
| Clutter | Clutter blocks energy everywhere, and especially impacts the Brahmasthan. Clear spaces are energized spaces. |
